The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the Bible
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the Bible
And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them
We all know that Sinai is where Musa ʿalayhi as-salām received revelation from God, and Seir is defined to be a land in the country of Edom, as mentioned in Genesis 32:3 Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom. Edom was an ancient kingdom that included parts of Palestine and Jordan
As we know this is where Jesus ʿalayhi as-salām received and preached the word of God. this is fully in line with the biblical narrative. Now for the third location, Paran, James Strong’s Bible dictionary defines it is as a desert in Arabia ,Encyclopedia Biblica asserts that Paran refers to the Arab tribal name, Farran. The Jewish commentary Sifrei Devarim also affirms this as well. The book of Jubilees, an ancient Jewish text, associated Paran with Ishmael who is the forefather of the Arabs
Sifrei Devarim
As we know the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ received his revelation in Arabia. So the Verse Deuteronomy 33:2 goes as, Moses (Tawrah) Jesus (Injil) Muḥammad (Quran). this prophecy laid out a roadmap of revelations that God would send to the world. We must highlight the prophecy’s use of language, the first revelation in this verse said “The Lord came” in the second it said he “rose up” and in the final, the Quran, it says it “shined forth” This appears to be a metaphor about the rising of the sun. The revelation of the Torah is likened to the break of dawn; when the light is at its weakest, the revelation of the Injil is when the sun / light rises up, and the Quran is likened to the sun at noon, when its shining the most. Historically the light of guidance from the Quran did indeed spread quicker and further east and west than with the prior revelations.
And in the same verse Deuteronomy 33:2 says the individual from Paran will come with “ten thousand saints” with a “fiery law” The hebrew word for Ten Thousand is רְבָבָה, the word can also carry the meaning of “indefinitely large”. The amount of people who came with the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ during the conquest of Makkah was 10 thousand. as Sahih Al Bukhari mentions
The Prophet (ﷺ) left Medina (for Mecca) in the company of ten-thousand (Muslim warriors) in (the month of) Ramadan, and that was eight and a half years after his migration to Medina. He and the Muslims who were with him, proceeded on their way to Mecca. He was fasting and they were fasting, but when they reached a place called Al-Kadid which was a place of water between 'Usfan and Kudaid, he broke his fast and so did they. (Az-Zuhri said, "One should take the last action of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and leave his early action (while taking a verdict.")
This is an exact fulfillment of the prophecy of a large amount of followers from Paran
in the same verse, Deuteronomy 33:2 it states that the individual from Paran will also come with a “fiery law” from his right hand. Which fits the description of the Quran, revealed to the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ from Allah, through Jibril ʿalayhi as-salām.
